Nortek have
been designers and manufacturers of technical furniture
since1976. Initially we catered for the requirements
of the Hi-Tech manufacturing industry, and the company
soon gained an enviable reputation for their innovative
technical manufacturing capability.
Building on that success the company diversified into the education
market. The furniture was designed to cater for specialised areas
such as Design and Technology including PECT, ICT, Graphics,
Special Needs, Textiles and also Art and Library Resource areas
etc.
A further milestone happened in 1997.
This was the appointment of Nortek as the sole UK distributors
for Europe’s leading producer of ergonomic classroom
furniture - VS of Germany.
The VS range, with its high quality,
design style and ergonomic construction, perfectly
complements our own range. It ideally suits the aims
of the Building Schools for the Future programme. Part
of the range is specifically a for PFI projects which
has a 30-year warranty.

The importance of these benefits became
apparent when, in 2000, we became involved in two PFI school
projects. The largest of these, the Glasgow Schools Project
covering 29 secondary schools, was equipped with 100,000
items of furniture.
Since then, we have been involved
with a number of PFI initiatives including the Stoke-on-Trent
primary school project. Because of this, we do not only
offer an extensive range of furniture covering all subject
areas; we can also offer our considerable major project
experience to others.
This experience and expertise bore fruit in 2002, when we received
an invitation from UK’s leading architectural practice, Foster
and Partners. Their brief was to equip the flagship Capital City
Academy in London, supplying a full range of furniture including
a built-in VS wall cupboard system in all classrooms.
Since then, we have worked on a number of major academy and educational
projects, including acting as Furniture & Equipment consultants
on a number of occasions. Our 15 years experience in the field of
education and our PFI and academy involvement, have given us a unique
level of expertise and in-depth knowledge. |
