PROCAT – Basildon

Today PROCAT is a specialist college which has been established to meet the workforce development needs of businesses which operate in sectors which are critical to the UK economy. This includes advanced apprenticeships to secure a pipeline of new talent, higher and degree apprenticeships to support advanced engineering capability and bespoke training solutions to develop the expertise and skills of the existing workforce.

Nortek have been supplying Prospects College for many years with technical industrial furniture to meet their ever growing needs in training the engineers of the future.

During a recent upgrade of facilities at their Basildon campus Nortek were asked to supply new electronic laboratory facilities and CAD room benching. Cee-Line Plus cantilever benches with keylock facility frames and instrument shelves with integral lighting were manufactured to suit the perimeter requirements of each room. The benches were fitted with desk mounted mains power trunking with an integrated RCD providing additional safety for each user. The rectangular tables were complimented with VS Compass chairs whilst the Cee-Line Plus benches were provided with VS PantoSwing gas lift swivel chairs on plastic glides.

A dedicated solder fume extraction system was fitted beneath the bench mounted mains power trunking in each room. This system included the provision of Purex self re-circulating extraction pumps which ensure the safe handling of any harmful fumes or substances into the teaching space whilst soldering is taking place.
