What to look for when buying classroom furniture.
Classroom furniture needs to perform well over many years. A poor buying decision doesn’t just affect the budget, it affects how students sit, how teachers work, and how a classroom functions day to day. Here are the four things that matter most.
School furniture takes a great deal of daily punishment. Chairs are stacked and unstacked, desks are pushed across floors, and storage units are opened and closed thousands of times during a school a year. Fully welded steel frames outperform crush-bent frames over the long term, as there are no joints that can loosen or fail with repeated use. Once you’ve confirmed your specification, our team will agree lead times and arrange delivery and assembly using our own installers, not a third-party contractor. There are no flat-pack deliveries left at the school reception for your staff to deal with.
Most standard orders are ready for delivery within four to six weeks. If your school is planning a summer refurbishment, we recommend placing your order by the end of June to guarantee installation is complete before the new term begins. Primary school pupils typically need size 2, 3, or 4 chairs, depending on their age and height. Size 2 (310mm seat height) suits Reception and Year 1 pupils; size 3 suits Years 2 and 3; size 4 suits Years 4 to 6. The correct chair allows a pupil’s feet to rest flat on the floor with their knees at a natural right angle. Our team can advise on the right size mix for each of your year groups.
